Executive Coaching
What is it, how do I approach it and what is the result?
Rather than listening to me explain what I do I asked a client to describe it in their words.
My Experience of Working with Owen Rogers
“Working with Owen is a transformational journey, one that goes beyond problem-solving to uncover the deeper truths shaping your leadership and life. From the start, his curiosity and candor create an environment of trust, making it easy to open up. Owen doesn’t hand out solutions; he helps you see where you’re holding yourself back and, more importantly, how to step into a more expansive version of yourself.
Through his thoughtful questions, honest reflections, and just the right amount of truth-telling, Owen guides you to challenge your limiting narratives and align your actions with your true values. The result? Greater confidence, stronger relationships, and the ability to navigate complexity with clarity and authenticity. Coaching with Owen isn’t about fixing something, it’s about unlocking what’s already there and learning to trust yourself, again and again.
If you get the chance to work with Owen, take it. You won’t just grow as a leader, you’ll grow in ways you didn’t know were possible.”

I have been advising, mentoring, and coaching clients in my design business for the past 15 years. As my work shifted toward transforming organizations through design, I became increasingly interested in the parallel transformation of the executives responsible for leading these large-scale change initiatives. Recognizing the need to support these individuals, I felt compelled to develop the skills necessary to guide them through their own transformation journey.
I graduated from INSEAD with an International Coaching Certification (ICC). Two key requirements continue to shape my journey today. First, graduates must establish a coaching practice to apply their learning in real-world scenarios. Second, they must develop a personal coaching philosophy, this is an evolving framework that grows as long as they remain active in the field.
This website, along with my current clients, reflects my practice, and the philosophy outlined below represents its current iteration. It encompasses what I have learned, what I believe, and what I am exploring and applying in my work today.

My coaching philosophy is built on personal experiences and core beliefs that I have refined over time. At its heart, coaching is not about fixing what is broken but about creating the space, structure, accountability and insights needed for meaningful growth. It is a process that requires commitment, self-reflection, and a willingness to challenge long-held narratives. When approached with dedication, coaching can lead to transformative insights and lasting change.
Below are the key principles that guide my coaching approach:
1. Growth Requires New Approaches
"What got you here won’t get you there." – Marshall Goldsmith
The beliefs and behaviors that have led to your current success may not be the ones that will take you to the next level. Coaching provides a structured space to assess what is working, what isn’t, and what needs to change to facilitate further growth.
2. Taking Full Responsibility Creates Empowerment
You are where you are because of the decisions you have made or avoided. When you fully own your choices, you gain the power to shape your future. Coaching helps you recognize the narratives that have shaped your journey and assess whether they are supporting or limiting your potential.
3. Coaching is About Equipping, Not Fixing
Coaching is not about solving problems for you; it’s about providing tools, perspective, and accountability. Growth happens when you actively engage in the process, take ownership of your development, and commit to the work required for meaningful change.
4. Commitment is Essential
Deep personal work is challenging. It requires a willingness to examine long-standing beliefs and question ingrained patterns. Real transformation happens only when the coachee is fully committed to engaging with the process.
5. The Relationship Between Coach and Coachee is Key
The most profound breakthroughs occur in a safe, trusting, and generative environment. When core beliefs are challenged within a supportive relationship, new possibilities emerge. The process may be difficult, but the outcomes can be life-changing.
6. Awareness is the Foundation of Growth
Awareness is simple in concept but profound in impact. Recognizing the patterns, habits, and assumptions that drive your decisions is the first step toward meaningful change. Without awareness, sustainable growth is impossible.
7. Presence Requires Practice
Presence goes beyond awareness. It is the ability to stay in the moment, observe your reactions, and allow experiences to unfold without immediately trying to control or change them. Unlike awareness, presence is difficult to cultivate and requires ongoing practice, discipline, and support.
8. Understanding Your Stories Gives You Power
The stories you tell yourself about who you are, what you can achieve, and what holds you back shape your reality. By recognizing and rewriting these narratives, you gain the ability to create a future aligned with your true potential.
9. Being as Well as Doing
Growth is not just about what you accomplish, it’s about who you become. While action is essential, true transformation happens when you shift your way of being. Leadership, creativity, and fulfillment emerge not from relentless striving but from deep alignment with your values, presence, and authentic self. Coaching helps you move beyond mere execution to cultivate a way of being that shapes everything you do.

I was told by my professor that the magic of coaching happens in the relationship. I believe this to be true.
Every person is unique, so I believe that what each individual needs may vary slightly. That said, we need a starting point. I always recommend beginning with a chemistry call combined with a fact-finding session.
This session is commitment-free for both parties. The potential client can explore the process, philosophy, and credibility, while assessing whether their is a connection and if the approach feels right for them. Meanwhile, I can evaluate whether I can genuinely help the client, determine their level of commitment, and assesses whether the chemistry exists between us to support meaningful work.

Coaching is a powerful process that challenges, empowers, and transforms. It is about recognizing where you are, understanding how you got there, and taking deliberate action to move forward. The journey may be difficult, but with commitment and the right support, real and lasting change is possible.
